The hiring process for the Los Santos County Sheriff's Office Roleplay Community is unlike any other. Candidates start by submitting an application to us online. The application gives us the first impression of the candidate and also allows us insight on their general information as well as their background. Once a candidate's application has been reviewed, he or she will be contacted by a recruiter for the Los Santos County Sheriff's Office whom will gather more information from the candidate and give him or her a basic introduction to the community. During this process the recruiter will also start the background investigation into the candidate to ensure the hiring of only quality applicants. If the candidate's application is up to par and their background investigation shows nothing of significant importance, he or she will then be scheduled for an Oral Board interview with the administration. The interview is designed to test the candidates communications skills, as well as their character and professionalism. If the panel agrees that the candidate would be a good fit in this agency, he or she will be offered a chance to attend the Academy, and become a sworn Deputy of the Los Santos County Sheriff's Office.
The Training Academy for the Los Santos County Sheriff's Office begins right when the candidate is accepted into the community as a Deputy. The cadet is given a Cadet handbook containing useful information he or she will use for the remainder of the time in the LSCSO. The handbook contains things such as radio codes, penal codes, introduction to criminal law and procedure and much more. Each candidate is expected to study all parts of the packet upon arrival to the academy. The academy itself lasts up to a minimum of 20 hours over a span of one to two weeks depending on the course schedule and cadets. The The first day of the academy starts off with a basic orientation to the community and to Law Enforcement. Each cadet is issued a sidearm, baton, taser, flashlight, and uniform. The days following include 3 hours of classroom instruction on criminal law, criminal procedure, and conflict resolution. Cadets then move on to spending almost 16 1/2 hours of the academy in hands on training and scenarios designed to teach the cadets how to handle any type of situation from an emotionally disturbed person, to a minor traffic collision. After the academy is over, and the cadets have passed all tests required to graduate, the will spend a minimum of 1 week with a Field Training Officer, who will help them through their first days on the streets of the county. Deputies whom have completed this stage are kept on 2 more weeks of probation but have the ability to roam by themselves. After this final stage, the once known candidate is now an official Deputy sworn into the Los Santos County Sheriff's Office.
